Self Referral

Most referrals to other specialists will require you seeing or speaking with a GP. However, there are a number of local services, listed below, that you are able to make self referrals to.

Psychological Wellbeing Service (IAPT)

This service provides help to people aged 17 and over who are experiencing common mental health problems such as depression and anxiety disorders, including: generalised anxiety disorder (GAD); social anxiety; post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); health anxiety; panic; phobias and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). However, you do not need a diagnosis to access the service and we also see people with problems such as stress, low confidence, sleep disturbance and self-esteem issues.

First Response Service

The First Response Service supports people experiencing a mental health crisis. FRS staff member It provides 24-hour, seven days a week, 365 days a year access to mental health care, advice and support. By calling 111, and selecting option 2, you will be put through to a member of FRS who will speak to you and discuss your current mental health needs.

Healthy Peterborough will help residents prevent and tackle common health problems and live healthier for longer .

Early pregnancy unit

Call us on 01733 673758. If we are busy with patients or already taking another call, you will be given the option of leaving a voicemail message. Please do this, and we will call you back when we are free. All calls are returned the same day and usually within a few hours. You will be asked some questions about your pain and/or bleeding and then given advice, or invited in for an appointment to see one of our Specialist Nurses or Doctors.

You can refer yourself directly to a psychological therapies service (IAPT) without seeing your GP. These services offer therapies, such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), for common problems including: stress, anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and phobias

The Healthier You: NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme (NHS DPP) identifies those at diabetes high risk and refers them onto a behaviour change programme.
